Description

As you know, this is not the first image of M42, but in my eyes it is still something special. Already during the first processing of the frame stack in 2018, I noticed something unusual and that required some time and research. I would like to share these findings with you, but in the form of a little puzzle game .

The attentive and experienced astrophotographer will see pretty quickly that there is something unusual about this picture!

Who of you has an idea? I am curious about your answers

Frank

P.S.: The next piece of the puzzle will follow with the next image revision in the next days.

First of all, thanks to all who participated in this little game .

As a new image revision, you will find another step towards the cause that created the misty stroke with a little arc in the lower left corner.

Let me summarize:
1. It has nothing to do with the sh ... weather in 2021 .
2. It is NO satellite trail since it was visible on every single frame.
3. Finally, it has nothing to do with a comet or chemtrails in space .

Here's a little hint:
Take a look at the telescope used and how it is constructed ...

I'm curious to see if anyone comes up with the solution.

Thanks again to all participants of this little challenge! I would like to solve my mystery, see new image revision.

--- CONGRATS TO ROBERTO ---
He hit the nail on the head. I have to drive out onto the field for my photos. Here a spider must have found my Newton so great that it immediately moved in. The spider's web was close to the primary mirror, apparently scattering the light and leaving the arc.

Since then I check the Newton for possible little inhabitants before every astro session .

Happy New Year to all of you!

P.S.: May the weather gods mean better with us here in Central Europe in 2022.
